This was a try-out of an extra-simple campaign played out over one evening using a slightly modified version of Neil Thomas's Machine Age rules.
Here we have our super-simple map. The red areas are occupied by Manchukuo forces and include the railhead at Yangdong. The green areas are held by Kuomintang forces and include the port of Zhentong. Loss of a side's supply base means defeat.
The Manchukuo lot win the initiative roll and move first, attacking the junction at Xiandong. We rolled for the scenario in the One Hour Wargames book and got #14.
Xiandong falls to Manchukuo. In their turn the KMT counterattack to retake the area. We roll scenario #5.
The Kuomintang countterattack on Xiandong fails. In their turn the Manchukuo forces drive on from Xiandong to attack Zhentong. It's scenario #3.
The Japanese puppets are driven back from Zhentong and it's the KMT's go. They attack Xianhou and roll scenario 26.
With their supply base at Yangdong under threat the Manchukuo general decides to throw everything into another attack on Zhentong. We roll scenario #12.
With Zhentong in Manchukuo hands the Nationalists are cut off from supply and disperse. The province falls and is incorporated into the Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere.
