I've long fancied a game with Daleks but until lately the cost of getting Black Tree or old Citadel Daleks has been prohibitive. That was before, alerted by The Miniatures Page, I found the Doctor Who Advent calendar in the newsagents. Against the Xmas protocols I opened all the flaps at once and found a load of Daleks. They are of the universally reviled fat-arsed 'Teletubby' New Paradigm type, but for the price who cares? In a way that was good. The capabilities of the bronze / gold Daleks are well known. However since these New Paradigm ones were quickly laughed off the screen their abilities were not fully explored and I have been able to take liberties with them. For example, I have for the purposes of the game deemed that they cannot fly. (That fat arse again.) Also they have force fields, but they are of the unreliable type from MDRG rather than the much-too-effective bulletproof ones from the David Tennant era. I've painted them all as Drones, but will one day do a blue one as a Strategist. I wonder what happens if a Strategist is killed? Does a Drone get a promotion? Does he then get a re-spray to blue? For some of them I used the ingenious painting technique shown here, but have not yet found the right diameter of tube.

After some discussion I decided on these stats for the Daleks. As mentioned they cannot fly, unlike the bronze ones, and their force fields are less effective. In this setting they are short of power, fuel or something like that which limits their effectiveness. However the force field, heavy armour and death ray gun will make them extremely powerful opponents for the survivors. Note that when the force field rolls a 1 it stops working for the duration of the game. This means that there is a point in making multiple attacks on a Dalek in the hope of overloading its force field.
Dalek drone (red)
Points: 80 Quality: 3+ Combat: 4
Artificial, Death Ray Gun, Force Field, Heavy Armour, NBC Suit, Short Move
Dalek strategist (blue)
Points: 110 Quality: 3+ Combat: 4
Artificial, Death Ray Gun, Force Field, Heavy Armour, Leader, NBC Suit, Short Move
Anyway, having painted them I got on with working out a background. It's a generic one but will do. Somewhere on the interwebs there must be a system for naming alternate timelines, but I have gone for an alphanumeric system. So this is Earth 2047-A4 - that is the year 2047, in the mainstream of 'standard' timelines (they are designated A, B, C etc. as they diverge further from the mainstream) and only four stages removed from the A1 baseline. There must have been three minor divergences from the A1 stream at some time in the past. The presidency of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the early 21st century was definitely one. As was the election of President Trump, which also, astonishingly, happened in 2016-A1.
At a later stage Mr D- W- introduced "robo-men", people mind-controlled or implanted with devices by the Daleks. They are:
Points 13 Quality: 5+ Combat: 2
Slow, Dim-witted, SMG
